The American Red Cross is responding to those without electricity tonight by providing shelters where storm victims can find food, water, and a warm place to lay their heads. KSMU's Jennifer Moore reports.

The shelter at the Salvation Army building at the corner of Kansas and Chestnut Expressway in Springfield remains open.

The American Red Cross is opening to additional shelters: the first one is in Marshfield at the First Baptist Church, located at 1001 S. White Oak.

The second shelter will be in Fordland, at the Freewill Baptist Church, 936 West Main Street.

Greg James, Director of Financial Development with the American Red Cross in Springfield, welcomes those who are without power tonight.

He said they will receive a cot, a blanket, and food and water.

James said the shelters will remain open as long as they are needed. The American Red Cross disaster assistance is free.
