A winter storm system headed our way is expected to bring accumulating snow to the Ozarks tonight and tomorrow. Michele Skalicky has more.

The Ozarks are expected to get a blanket of snow tonight and tomorrow. Meteorologist Kelsey Angle says a winter storm is headed our way...

"We're watching a developing winter storm that's currently in Arizona. Tonight, that will be headed out into the Plains. Out ahead of that, there's going to be lots of moisture in place, and later on this evening we do expect some light snow light snow to develop across SE Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks as we head into the evening hours throughout the overnight hours. That snow will increase in coverage, and we do expect some moderate to heavy snow at times, most likely after midnight."

According to Angle, we'll have snow showers thru about mid morning tomorrow. Then, another round of snowfall is expected to develop late Saturday morning into the afternoon. A winter storm watch is in effect tonight thru tomorrow evening for much of the Missouri Ozarks...

"We do expect the possibility as far as snowfall accumulations to range from about 5 to 7 inches with some locally heavier amounts possible."

Angle says the Springfield area is expected to get anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of snow.
