Ozarks Technical Community College is implementing a new system to improve campus safety through communication. Starting this week, OTC can reach its students, staff and faculty by text messaging. KSMU's Jana Greer has more...

Since the shooting at Virginia Tech earlier this year, schools have been looking for new ways to improve campus safety. As of this week, OTC will be trying to improve its campus safety by being able to contact students, staff and faculty on their cell phones through text messaging. Hal Higdon is the President of OTC. He says the system would notify students and staff if there is a campus emergency.

Higdon says that communication is very important when it comes to campus safety.

The system is voluntary and free to students, faculty and staff at OTC. Higdon says that he believes the program will be very successful.

If you would like to sign up for the OTC text messaging program, you can register online at www.otc.edu.
