Astro Brief

What sort of telescopes are in space?

Since the launch of the Orbiting Astronomical Observatory 2 in 1968, NASA has been putting telescopes into space including the famous Hubble Space Telescope and more recently, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Each one has its own capabilities and mission set to help us explore the cosmos in a unique way. These telescopes can be as close as Earth orbit or beyond the moon in a special point called L2.

Join us this week as Mike discusses some of the fascinating space telescopes that are in operation today.

Astro Brief is a collaboration between KSMU, the Missouri Space Grant, and MSU's Department of Physics, Astronomy and Materials Science. Hosted by Dr. Mike Reed, Astro Brief focuses on astronomical events, the field of astronomy, and astronomy-related guests. It airs Thursdays at 9:45 am on KSMU.

Distinguished Professor of the Missouri State University Department of Physics, Astronomy and Materials Science.
