Cold Weather Headed for the Ozarks This Weekend

Anyone in the Ozarks planning to spend time outdoors this weekend will want to bring a jacket as a cold front is causing temperatures to drop significantly. KSMU’s Melanie Foehrweiser has details.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the 30’s by Thursday night, and the rest of the weekend won’t be much warmer. Mike Griffin is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield.

“We’ll barely crack 50 through the weekend. Highs around 50 degrees Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Overnight lows below freezing in the upper 20’s to around 30, so much colder weather coming our way this weekend.”

For anyone attending Missouri State University’s homecoming game Saturday, Griffin says dress warmly.

“Snuggle up in the stands. It looks like sweatshirts and long sleeve jackets will be in order for the game. Sunny skies, [but] it will just be chilly with temperatures around 50 degrees by 1 pm.”

For KSMU News, I’m Melanie Foehrweiser.
