Paul Mueller Company designs and makes stainless steel tanks and equipment used in dairy farms and various industries, both here in the US and in over 100 countries.

Over the next three years, it says it will add 289 new employees. On average, wages for those jobs will be above the county average of $34,600 and will include benefits.

At a Wednesday press conference, president and CEO of the company David Moore said the past four years brought unprecedented changes in the product market that required the company to make some painful changes. Now, however, he said that’s coming back.

“Our company is experiencing a recovery in our Springfield facility, due to the determination and steady progress of our employees and each of our product lines,” Moore said.

The company will receive workforce training help from Ozarks Technical Community College.  Hal Higdon is the president of OTC.

“Our master welding program turns out fantastic, world-class welders that are actually in demand all over this country. But we’re never happier than when one of our welders goes to work right here at home at Paul Mueller,” Higdon said.

Currently, the Paul Mueller Company has about 500 employees at its Springfield headquarters on Kansas Expressway.   About 20 percent of its annual sales come from international exports.

Governor Jay Nixon and several city officials were there for the announcement.
