If you need to do research at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield’s Hulston Library, you’ll need to do it before September 15. That’s the day the library will close, and it won’t reopen until next summer.
The closure is necessary to begin the construction phase of a project to remodel the battlefield’s visitor center, which is scheduled to begin this fall.
According to the park, the library collection will be moved to a secure storage site where it will be protected during construction. The move is being made because of an increased risk of fire, dust and mold during construction. All items will be returned next summer after the project is finished.
Library staff will continue to offer limited assistance during construction. A temporary, much smaller visitor center will be set up while the permanent one is closed for the remodel.
