OTC Offers Free 4-Week Course To Meet Needs Of The Local Construction Industry

James Mulvenon

A free course for anyone who would like to work in the construction industry is being offered this summer by Ozarks Technical Community College on its Springfield campus.  According to OTC, it’s offering the course to meet the needs of the industry.

OTC chancellor, Hal Higdon, said in a news release that he’s heard from many construction companies and contractors recently who are “in desperate need of workers.”

The class starts June 7 and will meet from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday for four weeks.  Participants must be at least 18-years-old.  Financial grants are available for anyone who needs help with living expenses.

Students in the class will learn basic construction skills and will earn a 10-hour construction certificate from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
