Springfield City Council Member Announces Resignation

City of Springfield

Springfield Zone Four City Council member, Craig Fishel, has resigned.

During Monday night’s City Council meeting, Fishel said he’s been asked to consider running for the 136th Missouri House seat currently held by Kevin Austin who has said he won’t run again.

"It is clear in the city charter that a council person cannot seek an elected office while he is sitting on city council," Fishel said.  "I am not declaring that I will be the running candidate for that position, but I need the necessary time to investigate and get educated as to whether this is something I really want to do and do with my family."

Fishel said he’ll announce Friday whether or not he’ll run for the house seat.

He called his time on council, “a life changing experience for me.”  Fishel’s resignation takes effect at noon on Friday.
