Missouri citizens seeking public office this fall can make their candidacy official Tuesday, the first day of the filing period.

Filing opens Tuesday at 8 am and closes on March 29th at county offices throughout the state and in Jefferson City for those filing for state offices. First day filers will be entered into a lottery to determine who will be listed first on the August primary ballot. View candidate filing information from the Secretary of State’s office here.

Various documents are needed from each candidate who files, including a filing fee paid receipt from a political party, proof of identity, and a copy of an affidavit of tax payments.

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller has created a “Candidate’s Corner” page where prospective citizens can find more information and filing requirements.
