Senator-Elect Prepares to Work with Colleague

Now that Democrat Claire McCaskill has won a seat in the U.S. Senate, she's already choosing the committees on which she wants to serve. And she's preparing to work with her Republican colleague from Missouri, Senator Kit Bond. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.

Now that Democrat Claire McCaskill has won a seat in the US Senate, she's already decided on which committees she wants to serve.

She says she's hoping for a seat on the Armed Services Committee where she can ask questions about Iraq.

She says she's also looking for a seat on the Government Reform Committee, a prime spot, she says where she can put to use the experience she gained as state auditor.

McCaskill will be working closely with Republican Senator Kit Bond of Missouri.

She says she and Bond have already started establishing a good working relationship.

Following Tuesday's elections, Bond was complimentary of McCaskill and the work she did when she was Jackson County.
