Missouri's Government Review Commission met in Springfield today for several hours to listen to officials, advocates and private citizens talk about a wide range of ways to make state government more efficient. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.
Governor Matt Blunt appointed the 20 member, bi-partisan commission and charged it with making recommendations for restructuring government.
Blunt says the goal is to make government more efficient.
Warren Erdman is the co-chairman of the commission.
He began today's meeting by reminding those in attendance what the commission's focus is.
More than 60 people turned out at the S-M-S Alumni Center in downtown Springfield for today's meeting.
One of those was Rick Hopkins, a farmer from Marionville.
He encouraged the commission to consider how much money the state is spending on ethanol production.
He says the state is spending millions of dollars on a farm product that benefits a small number of farmers.
Hopkins remarks drew some comments from commission member, Charlie Kruse
