The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management is working to restore service but urges using alternative methods.

The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management reports that several outdoor warning sirens are not working after severe storms on Tuesday and numerous power outages. They are urging residents to use other ways to be alerted to severe weather. Those include weather radios, TV and radio broadcasts, wireless emergency alerts on smartphones and trusted weather and emergency management apps.

The office is working with local partners to get them back up and running as soon as possible, it said. But emergency management officials are reminding residents that Outdoor Warning Sirens are only one part of the county’s emergency notification system—and are not intended to be heard indoors or serve as the sole source of warnings.

OEM said it will provide updates on siren status and other public safety messages as they become available.
