Voters in the Walnut Grove School District rejected a proposed tax increase for school improvements.
About a third of registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s election. The measure, which would have increased the operating tax levy by $1.07 per $100 assessed valuation, failed 54 percent to 46 percent, according to results that have not yet been certified by the Greene County Clerk.
The district had planned to use the extra tax revenue to build additional elementary school classrooms and administrative offices among other things.
