Young Girl Sells S'mores for a Cure

An event in downtown Springfield over the weekend raised money for cancer research.  Relay for Life took place at Jordan Valley Park Saturday afternoon in to Sunday morning.

One team was headed by likely the youngest captain at the event—Charissa’s Curefinders sold s’mores, marshmallow roasting sticks, drinks and t-shirts under a tent with a banner reading "S'more Lovin' for a Cure."  Charissa Moser is just seven years old.  Her PaPa passed away three years ago.

"He died from cancer.  I want to raise a lot of money so other kids won't lose their PaPas," she said.

The booth sold nine different kinds of s’mores including banana split and maple/bacon.  Donors provided all the materials needed to make the treats.  Moser said she hoped to make a difference.

"It just feels like I'm doing something for other people, and it just feels good," she said.

Money raised at the event will go to the American Cancer Society.
