Volunteers Needed to Help Springfield's Homeless

Convoy of Hope

A lot of volunteers are needed to help the Community Partnership of the Ozarks serve the homeless in southwest Missouri next month.

CPO says it needs 500 people to sign up to help out at HOPE Connection set for November 8th at the Springfield Expo Center.

The nonprofit organization anticipates 800 homeless people seeking help at that event, which provides access to dozens of vital services including housing, employment, healthcare and other basic needs.  This year’s event will also offer Veteran’s Village, which includes services specific to homeless veterans.

During the 2014 event, 646 homeless individuals were served, 1000 bags of groceries were distributed, 112 eye exams were completed, 122 haircuts were given and 109 people received their birth certificates.

Volunteers are needed to walk through the event with those seeking help and make sure they get the services they need.  To sign up to help, www.hopeconnectionspringfield.org.

Businesses can help by giving their employees a “Vacation Day a Whole New Way.”  Business owners can sign up by emailing volunteer@commpartnership.org.
