Exploring the Fall Colors in the Ozarks

Ozarklight.com

It’s that time of year again. The trees have begun their seasonal change and the Ozarks has a number of places where you can go to see foliage.

Buffalo National River in Northern Arkansas is home to a number of canoeing, hiking and nature watching sights. According to Caven Clark, the public information officer for Buffalo National River, mid-October to early November is the most popular time for visitors to come view the fall colors.

Clark explained that the scenery changes every year along Buffalo River, and it’s impossible to characterize it. One year is never the same as the last

“I guess that’s kind of the attraction. The variability of the fall color options,” Clark said.

He says one of the most popular spots along the river this time of year is the Boxley Valley area.

“They make, well I guess I’d call it a pilgrimage over here every year to enjoy watching the elk and to see the fall colors,” Clark said.

Along with viewing the elk, other activities at the park include floating, hunting and hiking.

More information about fall sightseeing and activities at the Buffalo National River can be found here.

Numerous other destinations in the Ozarks are popular for viewing the fall colors. In 2013, we brought you this report on the Glade Top Trail.
