With a new year already out the door the February 3rd local election is right around the corner.And if you didn’t register for the November elections, you may be out of luck.KSMU’s Erika Brame has more.
Wednesday, January 7th, is the last day to register for the upcoming election, on several Springfield issues.Greene County Clerk Richard Struckoff says there are several places you can go to get registered.
“All of the libraries will be open I believe until nine o’clock tonight so they can register at a library. Or a school, any of the schools have a registration sites.”
He says people will not be voting at the temporary polls which were set up for the November elections. “If you used a temporary polling cite last November you would go back to the location that is on your voter registration card.”
Only Springfield residents and some specially annexed townships can vote in this election, but outside shoppers will certainly feel the impact if it passes.That’s because on the ballot is a proposal that would raise the city’s sales tax one cent.
“It will affect anyone who makes a purchase that’s subject to a sales tax in the city of Springfield.”For KSMU News I’m Erika Brame.
