Winter Weather Hits the Ozarks

Winter weather has arrived in the Ozarks. KSMU's Missy Shelton has the latest.

Missouri State University is closing this afternoon at 2 because of the weather and is canceling evening classes.

In addition to Missouri State University closing, some Springfield elementary school are dismissing early including Bowerman, Pleasant View Elementary and Middle School, Sequiota, Sunshine, Truman and Weller. The middle school and high school students who ride a bus will leave 30 minutes early. Everyone else in those schools will leave at their usual time.

Some parts of Springfield are without power and have been without power since 7 this morning.

Ernie De Camp is the spokesman for City Utilities of Springfield.

De Camp says the outages are widespread.
