A fundraising effort underway is geared towards replacing trees at Missouri State University that were lost in the January ice storm. Michele Skalicky reports.
An effort is underway to replace trees at Missouri State University that were lost in the January ice storm. Campus ReLeaf is an organized effort by the Missouri State University Foundation to reforest and restore the natural beauty of the MO State campus.
The Foundation's Director of Annual Funds, Melanie Earl, says the ice storm in January took a heavy toll on the university's trees.
According to Earl, money contributed to Campus ReLeaf will fund the long-term master plan for reforestation of the campus and replace the trees that were lost in the storm.
Before and after photos on Missouri State's website show how devastating the storm was to the university's trees. Earl says university officials hope to begin replanting trees this fall.
Depending on their maturity, Earl says trees can cost anywhere from $200 to $2500 each.
