Fearless Female Journalists
Fearless Female Journalists
The adventures and notable achievements of newspaper reporter Lucile Morris Upton and photojournalist Betty Love will be the subject of a talk at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library at 10 a.m. February 27.
Upton, a reporter for nearly 50 years, is the subject of Newspaperwoman of the Ozarks, a biography published by the University of Arkansas Press and authored by Springfield writer Susan Croce Kelly, who will discuss Upton’s career and the two decades that she and Love worked together and became known all over the region.
Kelly is also author of two prizewinning books on the history of Route 66, and is currently editor of Ozarks Watch, a magazine of Ozarks history and culture published by the Ozarks Studies Institute of Missouri State University.
