Caregiving in the Ozarks: Virtual Panel Discussion

Caregiving in the Ozarks: Virtual Panel Discussion

Ozarks Public Broadcasting will host a virtual panel discussion as part of our new multimedia project, Sense of Community: Caregiving in the Ozarks.

This project explores the often unseen world of caregiving in southwest Missouri — from the emotional and financial toll to the resilience and purpose it brings. Through KSMU Radio, Ozarks Public Television, and digital storytelling, we’re amplifying the voices of caregivers and advocating for meaningful change.

Hosted by KSMU News Director Michele Skalicky, this live panel will feature local caregivers and experts from AARP, Senior Age, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Preferred Hospice, and Engage Mobility. Together, they’ll explore:

  • Physical, emotional, and financial strain
  • Gaps in training, resources, and support
  • Legal and ethical challenges in caregiving

The event will stream live from optv.org on June 18 at 1:00 pm. No registration is required.
