Missouri State University’s department of sociology and anthropology recently released the report, “Social Capital and Civic Participation in the Ozarks.” Social capital is the extent to which members of a community have networks of trusting mutual relationships with others.

The study’s authors are sociology professors Michael Stout, John Harms and Tim Knapp.

According to Stout, the report shows an improvement in several areas of civic engagement, but also a trend toward inequality in participation.

Dr. Stout discusses the report.
