2009 is an off year for an election, but Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff says he is expecting more people to vote November 3rd than average. KSMU’s Katie Easley spoke with the Greene County Clerk and has this report
Struckhoff says he expects about a 20% turn out, and 64 out of 80 polling places will be open.
“Not everyone has issues to vote on tomorrow so unless you live inside the city limits of Springfield or the R12 school district or the republic school district don’t go to your polls,” says Struckhoff.
One accessible voting machine will be located at the Greene County Courthouse for voters with disabilities. The machine has touch screen capability, and an audio ballot for the visually impaired.
“Just come to the Green County Courthouse on the first floor. What we will do is verify with your current voting place that you haven’t voted yet and then we will turn on the machine so you can use it,” says Struckhoff.
Voters with special needs interested in using this device should come to the Greene County Courthouse between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. The courthouse is located at 940 N. Booneville and the accessible voting machine can be found in room 113 on the first floor.
