This Thursday, universities across the country will take part in a national teach-in focused on global warming. KSMU’s Missy Shelton reports on Missouri State University’s involvement with the event.
A Missouri State student group called Students for a Sustainable Future has organized the university’s participation in the national teach-in.Alexander Wait is an associate professor of biology at Missouri State and is the advisor for the student group that organized the teach-in.He says the day-long event that looks at global warming from a variety of perspectives and academic disciplines.

Wait says even climate change skeptics will find the teach-in interesting and useful. He says many of the discussions will focus on making the community more sustainable.

Wait says he hopes students come away from the teach-in with a better understanding of what they can do as individuals to live a more sustainable lifestyle.All the sessions and panels that are a part of the teach-in are open to the public. The university office of Public Affairs is funding a concert by alternative rock musician and renewable energy advocate Jonny Dubowsky…that’s Thursday at 7PM. The concert and the other teach-in events will take place in the Plaster Student Union.
