Blunt Visits Springfield to Recognize Manufacturers
Governor Matt Blunt was in Springfield yesterday to speak to working Missourians about recent statewide economic growth. KSMU's Megan Keathley reports.
Gov. Blunt congratulated a small crowd of employees at the NorthStar Battery Company late yesterday afternoon. In a short but direct address, Blunt announced NorthStar's plans for a new, additional manufacturing facility, made possible through Blunt's Enhanced Enterprise Zone tax credits.
Blunt has been visiting job sites across the state for the past several weeks. According to a statement released by the governor's office, industries in Joplin, Clayton, Marshall, and St. Louis are receiving tax cuts and creating more jobs/ through the Enhanced Enterprise Zone plan. Blunt attributes the success of the plan to the hard work ethics held by Missouri laborers, even in the face of nationwide economic downturn.
The new extension of NorthStar Battery plant is scheduled to open in south Springfield next year.
