John Ashcroft Will Speak at Missouri State
Former United States Attorney General John Ashcroft will speak at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the Missouri State campus on September 12th. He will speak as a kickoff event for an Accountants Education Conference that will be held September 13th and 14th at University Plaza Hotel. KSMU's Joe Morgan spoke with one of the event planners and has more.
This year's conference will be the first time the Heartland Institute of Management Accountants has ever held its conference in Springfield. The last two years, the conference was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Missouri State Professor in the School of Accountancy and event planner Olen Greer says many people are excited to attend the kickoff event on September 12. There will be a dinner at University Plaza around 5:30 pm to honor special guest former United States Attorney General John Ashcroft. After the dinner, Ashcroft will make a presentation titled "Today and the Future of Homeland Security" at Hammons Hall. Greer says that there's a specific reason for asking Ashcroft to speak.
Ashcroft's presentation is free and open to students and the public but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up at Missouri State TIX offices. Greer says Ashcroft's presentation will have a broad appeal.
There will be a link to more information about the conference with this story online at ksmu.org. For KSMU News, I'm Joe Morgan.
