In mid August 2003 , Silver Dollar City Attractions announced plansto re-organize the company's first theme park. Mike Smith has the story:
Citing a number of economic factors including oil prices, the war in Iraq, and the rising price of gasoline, the leadership of Silver Dollar City Attractions in Branson announced in mid August, corporate actions that include job reductions and re-organization. Brad Thomas, Vice President and General Manager of Silver Dollar City theme park says 30 of the 90 employees affected will be offered part time employment or transfers to other full time positions.
The 5 Silver Dollar City attractions in Branson are: The Showboat Branson Belle, Grand Village , White Water, Silver Dollar City , and Celebration City . Thomas says although Silver Dollar City is down 125,000 guests compared to this time last year, it's not a sign of dismal times for the theme park, the other Silver Dollar City Attractions, or for the city of Branson . He says the company's newest theme park, Celebration City is on track with 350,000 visitors since it opened at eh end of May.
