Official enrollment numbers at Drury University shows its student population has grown by 4.1 percent over last year.

Drury credits the increase to its largest incoming freshmen class in five years combined with a solid retention rate.

In a news release, the school says its traditional undergraduate population for the 2016-17 academic year is 1,372, a jump of 54 students over last year. Drury’s incoming freshman class is 38 percent larger than last year.

The improved enrollment numbers come after the university expanded its recruiting market, created a faculty outreach plan, and added new academic and athletic programs.
