Nixa X Center Lifeguard Tests Positive For COVID-19

Nixa Parks

The City of Nixa says a lifeguard at The X Center pool has tested positive for COVID-19.  The lifeguard worked while possibly contagious on Tuesday, June 30.  But city officials say they worked outdoors in a lifeguard station and were not in close proximity to the public.

The lifeguard is under quarantine, and other Nixa Parks staff are being monitored.

If you were at the pool that day, the Christian County Health Department says your risk for contracting the illness from the lifeguard is low, but you should watch for symptoms.  Those include:  fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat and congestion or runny nose.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand. She enjoys working on both the announcing side and in news and has been the recipient of statewide and national awards for news reporting. She likes to tell stories that make a difference. Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
