With Black Friday and Cyber Monday over, Ozarks Food Harvest and other local organizations hope to shift the focus to Giving Tuesday. This is a global event that begins what is known as the Holiday Giving Season. Christine Temple is the communication’s director for OFH.
“Ozarks food harvest is participating by asking our donors and maybe people who are supporters of ours but just haven’t donated yet to consider making a gift. tomorrow Every dollar that’s given to Ozarks Food Harvest provides five meals,” Temple said.
Temple explained how the winter season can be a particularly challenging one for people who are in need.
“We know that a lot of people we serve especially struggle when their utility bills go up almost 70 percent of the people we serve have to make a really incredible choice between paying their utility bill and paying for groceries and that’s just not a choice we want our neighbors to make here in the Ozarks,” Temple said.
She explained that though this time of year sees an increase in need it also sees an increase in people that are willing to help.
More information about being involved in Giving Tuesday and how to donate directly can be found on the Ozarks Food Harvest website.
