Help Needed for Ozarks Food Harvest Fish Drive

Lent is underway, and some people use this time to do something good for those who are less fortunate.  Ozarks Food Harvest is suggesting that churches, businesses, schools or any other groups or individuals participate in the second annual community Fish Drive through March 24th.

According to the food bank, high-protein food is one of the most needed items requested by its network of 200 hunger-relief organizations.

Denise Gibson, Ozarks Food Harvest’s director of development and communication, says one in four people in the Ozarks receive food assistance from their network of agencies, so there’s a big need for the Fish Drive.

Participating groups are asked to collect items such as canned or pouched tuna, salmon, mackerel, sardines or oysters.

The first Fish Drive netted 569 pounds of food.
