Remember disco balls? Leg warmers as a fashion statement? The music of ELO? All that and more will be revived as Springfield Contemporary Theatre produces Douglas Carter Beane's humorous theatrical take on the 1980 film Xanadu November 20-December 13 at SCT Center Stage in Wilhoit Plaza.

Springfield Contemporary Theatre presents the riotous send-up of Shakespeare's Danish prince, Hamlet Vs. Zombies: Something is Rotting in the State of Denmark, Oct. 16-Nov.1st at SCT Center Stage, corner of Pershing and Robberson downtown.  Written by Jeff Jenkins and Bryant Turnage and directed by David Rice, this is a co-production with Jeffrey Markus Productions.  Claudius, brother to the King, has developed a plan to usurp the throne of Denmark and finally deal with their pesky Norwegian neighbors: kill the King, seize the crown...and then bring him and his soldiers back as zombies.

Equity actor/singer Sean Doherty from New York will be nothing if not busy as he spends his third summer in Springfield.  Cast in the lead role in Missouri State University Tent Theatre's opening production of its 53rd season, the musical Leap of Faith, Doherty decided to spend the one off-night during the run--this Sunday, June 14--doing an hour-long solo cabaret evening for Springfield Contemporary Theatre's "Sunday Songbook Series." on Sunday June 14 at 7:00pm at SCT Center Stage at Wilhoit Plaza (corner of Pershing and Robberson).

Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, "Spring Awakening" by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik is a rock musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind's 1891 expressionist play about the trials, the tribulations and the exhilaration of the teen years.
