The Greene County Democratic watch party ended with hugs and tears for some party members on election night.
State Representative Crystal Quade is one of the only Democrats to claim victory in the wider Springfield area Tuesday night.
She said she was disappointed for losses of her fellow Democrats, but said Missourians showed they want change through the their strong support of the issues on the ballot.
Jamie Schoolcraft, who lost to Republican Congressman Billy Long, also said he remains hopeful.
Quade and Schoolcraft said they were glad Missourians voted to pass Amendment 1. That’s the ballot measure that changes how Missouri’s legislative districts are drawn and limits lobbyist gifts to lawmakers. Here’s Jamie Schoolcraft.
“Sure, we would have liked to have won a lot more races. But really, any progress forward is great and we’re kinda happy with that,” Schoolcraft said.
Both Quade and Schoolcraft attended the Democratic watch party at the Teamsters Union on Division Street in Springfield.
