McClure has advocated for and continues to advocate for the university and the city, according to MSU officials in a news release.

They said he has provided leadership during the pandemic to protect Springfield residents.  City Council passed a masking ordinance as well as facility occupancy and gathering restrictions.

MSU’s president and administrative council recommend recipients for the award.
