Thanksgiving will look a little different this year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.  And the Springfield-Greene County Health Department is offering guidance for celebrating the holiday safely.

There’s advice on the department’s website about holiday travel, how to talk to friends and family members about ways to celebrate, and there’s a risk assessment quiz.

Some of the low risk ways to celebrate, according to the health department, are having a small dinner with people who live in your household; preparing traditional family recipes for family and neighbors and delivering them in a way that doesn’t involve contact with others; having a virtual dinner and sharing recipes with family and friends; doing holiday shopping online; and watching sports event, parades and movies from home.

The website also includes information about moderate risk activities and higher risk activities.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand. She enjoys working on both the announcing side and in news and has been the recipient of statewide and national awards for news reporting. She likes to tell stories that make a difference. Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
