Airport Regains Two Destinations

The Springfield-Branson National Airport will regain two destinations it lost last year. KSMU’s Adam Hammons reports.

As of now Delta Airlines has two locations with the airport: Atlanta and Memphis. However, starting June 10, it will add both Detroit and Minneapolis to the list. Kent Boyd is the airport’s spokesman.

“I think the addition of Minneapolis, Detroit is a good indication essentially that the economy is recovering. Not only nationally but here in southwest Missouri.”

Boyd also said that Detroit’s main airport has added many cities as well. The combination will give people even more choices on where to go.

However, these locations could be temporary.

“We’re kind of getting the general idea at this point from Delta that they’re thinking they may make it summer service only. So they would have the service to Minneapolis this summer, and they would bring it back next and so on.”

Boyd said the more people who use the airport, the more locations it will gain.
