Graphic Novels Can Reveal Beauty, Truth, Mythology

http://ozarkspub.vo.llnwd.net/o37/KSMU/audio/mp3/graphicnov_7037.mp3

The genre of the graphic novel has a long history. According to some, it dates all the way back to cave paintings. Others date it back to the Middle Ages. Others find a more recent foundation for it. At Missouri State University, an entire intercession course will focus on the genre, and while budget concerns will prevent more courses being offered in this area, many English courses will begin to incorporate more about the graphic novel into the curriculum. Award-winning graphic novelist Matt Kindt will be on the Missouri State campus to lecture to students in the course Aug. 12, and from 6-8 p.m. that evening, he will be available in the Plaster Student Union Gallery for a book signing and reception.
