The Wonders of Wildlife museum and aquarium announced its new contractor today to finish the museum’s expansion. Museum officials also announced thatplans are in place to finish the renovations by late 2010.

The Wonders of Wildlife, or WOW, museum closed almost two years ago for remodeling with plans then to reopen in only six months. The project to turn the facility into one of the nation’s best living museums has taken longer than expected. Most recently, the museum had a goal of reopening in the summer of 2009, but this week’s announcement pushed the completion date back at least another year.

In a news release, museum officials say they are pleased to now have Whiting-Turner Contracting Company on board for the renovations. According to Rob Keck, WOW’s Chairman of the Board, Whiting-Turner has been in business for 100 years, and has worked with Disney and other major aquariums across the country. Beck states that the company is also known to finish projects on time and frequently ahead of schedule. For KSMU News, I’m Adam Murphy.
