The C Street Market opens for the season Saturday on Historic Commercial Street. KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more.

There's nothing like a fresh ear of corn or watermelon just off the vine. Those are things you'll be able to buy this summer at the C-Street Market.

Mary Collette, with the Commercial Club, says she can't say how many vendors there will be this year. That's because anyone is welcome to offer goods and services at the market.

The cost to sell items at the market is $7.50 on Saturdays and $4 on Tuesdays.

This is the 3rd year the Commercial Club has operated the C-Street Market, but it's been around for about 7 years. Collette feels there should be more markets like this one.

Not only do markets like the one on C-street offer fresh produce and handmade items, Collette says they bring neighbors together.

The C-Street Market opens for the season tomorrow. Hours are 8 to noon Saturday mornings and 4 to 7 pm on Tuesdays.
