This week is a busy travel time for the Springfield-Branson Regional Airport. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.

If your travel plans include flying, there are some things you can do to improve your chances of having a smooth trip.

Gary Cyr is director of aviation for the airport.

Cyr says one of the biggest travel challenges this week is finding a place to park at the airport.

He urges travelers to be patient.

Cyr says you can expect to see more people at the airport the week of Thanksgiving than other times of the year.

If you're traveling with gifts, remember not to place wrapped gifts in your bags or suitcase because screeners may have to ask you to unwrap the items for a security check.

Carrie Harmon is regional spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration.
