City Utilities says the path for a 161kV electric transmission line and the properties that would be involved in the planned project have been determined.

The path was identified based on two public input sessions last fall.  According to CU officials, following the meetings, extensive evaluation of the project was done, “to determine an optimal route for the transmission line and location of a new substation.”

Property owners involved in the project will be contacted to go over the details and process involved in obtaining a utility right-of-way.

According to CU, the project will involve constructing approximately 13 miles of 161kV electric transmission line connecting the John Twitty Energy Center to the Partnership Industrial Center West.  It also includes the construction of an additional electric substation along the corridor.
