The Branson Board of Aldermen passed has passed a bill Thursday that’s designed to limit the spread of COVID-19. The ordinance prohibits planned or spontaneous events with 10 or more people. It also prohibits businesses from exceeding 25% of their occupant load in enclosed public places. Daycares and medical facilities are exempt.
Violators can face up to 90 days in jail or up to a $500 fine. The ordinance will sunset on May 15.
The board also passed a resolution that encourages Branson residents to take steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The board encourages residents to avoid visiting hospitals, long-term care facilities or nursing homes; avoid the emergency room unless it’s necessary; stay home when sick, practice excellent personal hygiene habits, stay away from people who are sick—especially if you’re at higher risk for COVID-19; clean frequently touched objects and surfaces; and stay informed by visiting coronavirus.gov.
The board asks employers to maximize telecommuting options for as many employees as possible; have employees stay home when they’re sick and maximize flexibility in sick leave benefits; and consider staggering start and end times to reduce large numbers of people gathering at the same time.
Taney County has not had a confirmed case of COVID-19.
