Willie Grega, Parkview High School's choral director, has a really good reason to pay attention to this year's Grammy Awards: one of his former students, 1995 Parkview grad, countertenor Geoffrey Williams, was one of the founding members of the male vocal quartet New York Polyphony, who have achieved recognition as one of the finest vocal chamber ensembles in the world.
The group's recent Christmas recording "Sing Thee Nowell" on the BIS label has been nominated for a Grammy for "Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance.
The 57th Grammy Awards air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday (Feb. 8) at 7:00pm on CBS. Geoffrey and the other members of New York Polyphony traveled to L.A. this week to be at the Grammy ceremonies.
