If you walk outside and smell smoke this morning, it’s likely from a wildfire in Kansas.
According to news outlets in the region, the fire, which started in northern Oklahoma March 22nd and moved into south central Kansas, has burned approximately 110 square miles in rural parts of those states.
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has issued a state of disaster emergency for Comanche and Barber Counties—the two counties affected by the wildfire.
According to the Comanche County, Kansas Facebook page, crews are starting to bring the fire under control, but strong winds are presenting a challenge.
