New Principals Named for Springfield's Westport School

Springfield Public Schools has announced the two principals that will oversee its Westport facility beginning this fall.

On Thursday, the district announced the appointment of Kim Sublett as the new elementary school principal and Jeff Wilcox as middle school principal.

Current principal for Westport elementary and middle schools, Gary Tew, is moving to the Holland Elementary School.

According to the district, Sublett currently works as school administration manager at Bowerman Elementary School. She’s been with SPS for 23 years.

She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree in guidance and counseling and a master's degree in educational administration-all from Missouri State University.

Wilcox, currently assistant principal at Hillcrest High School, came to SPS in 2013 after serving in the same capacity for the Branson R-3 School District. 

He attended Missouri State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in educational administration and a specialist's degree in educational administration. He is currently working toward a doctorate in educational leadership from Southwest Baptist University.

Both principal appointments are subject to final approval by the school board.
