When he’s not on stage or rehearsing with Branson’s Million Dollar Quartet, drummer Daniel Dossey is often listening to KSMU. He says the experience can be an adventure.
“So when I hear something new, my brain just really perks up,” says Dossey. “And I do go down that rabbit hole and try to hunt down these - and so I’m constantly on these little NPR, KSMU quests, like what was I just listening to? That was incredible!”
Dossey is also a big fan of variety programs like A Prairie Home Companion, which he grew up listening to with his grandfather and has been a programming staple on KSMU for decades.
“And I had such an admiration for this man, that I would listen to this stuff with him. And it was such good stories, and good radio.”
Through the years, Dossey’s admiration for public radio remained. Today, he’s rarley out of earshot.
“Anywhere I go I’m looking for National Public Radio, so as soon as I found it on the airwaves here, I hardly touched my - I don’t really even know the other stations in the area. It’s really what I listen too.”
