The trails at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center will be closed Saturday through Monday, December 9-11, while a managed archery deer hunt takes place.
Missouri Department of Conservation biologists have said the hunt is necessary to manage the area’s deer population.
Hunters who have been selected through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s managed hunt drawing will be required to hunt from elevated tree stands while maintaining a distance of at least 35 yards from adjacent residential areas. They’ll be allowed to take three deer each.
While the trails will be closed, the visitor center will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
