Molecular Processes; Cells Get Hungry, Too

Dr. Kyoungtae Kim, a Professor of Biology at Missouri State University

It would seem that the mechanism by which our bodies live is rather simple; we eat, breathe and drink.  However, on a cellular level a great array of processes must act in a coordinated fashion if our individual cells are to do the jobs necessary for our survival.  Dr. Kyoungtae Kim, a Professor of Biology at MSU, is intensely interested in these processes and how they sometimes become compromised in ways that produce deleterious effects.  He stops by to talk about various processes, the ones that interest him the most and the ways he and his team track them in the lab.  With the information gathered from his studies, he hopes to find ways to stop or modify cellular activities that hurt rather than help us.
