IMAGES: Flooding Evident by Area Rivers, Trails

Officials throughout the region were continuing to monitor flooding occurrences as a result of the remnants of tropical system Bill into Friday evening. In Greene County, multiple roads were closed or impassable throughout the county as of this afternoon due to water on the roadways, and the Northbound 65 Ramp to Westbound 60 and the Westbound 60 ramp to Northbound 65 are both closed.

In addition, officials are monitoring the level of the James River, which reached a record level crest of 22.2 feet at 12:15pm Friday, confirmed by the National Weather Service in Springfield.

Motorists are reminded to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when approaching water covered roadways and not to attempt to navigate around road barriers and closing signs. Also, allow extra time for travel and have alternate routes in mind.
